Robert Tucke, the son of Robert and Tamsin Tuck, was baptized on 19 November 1596 in St. Stephen, Norwich. [1] He died on 4: 8 mo 1664 in Hampton, New Hampshire. [2][3] He married Joan Collins on 24 January 1618/9 in St. Stephen, Norwich. [1]

Tucke is also spelled as Tuck.

Johanna (spelled various ways) was born say 1596. She died on 14 February 1674. [1]

Dow states that Robert came from Gorlston, county Suffolk. [4]

Robert was apprenticed to John Clubb, tailor of Norwich, on 10 December 1610. [1] He was admitted to the freedom of Norwich as a tailor on 5 January 1620/1. [1]

Robert was one of the 1638 petitioners for leave to settle at Winnacunnet (Hampton, New Hampshire). [5]

Robert was a freeman in Massachusetts Bay Colony on 7 September 1639. [6]

Robert was a selectman in Hampton in 1648, 1649, 1652 and 1657. He was town clerk from 1647 to 1652. [7]

Inventory on the estate of Robert Tucke was taken on 17 November 1664. It amounted to £385.17.12. [8]

Robert died intestate and in April 1665 the court ordered that the estate remain in the hands of the administrator John Sanborn for the use of the widow. After her death it was to split between Robert Tucke, Elizabeth Sherburne, Mary Sanborn and John Tuck, the son of Edward Tuck. [7]

At the Hampton court on 14th 8mo 1673, the aged widow Johanna Tucke complained that she wanted "necessary comforts" which John Sanborn "did not take due care to furnish," although there was sufficient estate. The court ordered three selectman to ensure she was properly taken care of. [9]

i. Robert Tucke

Robert did not come to New England with his family. [7]

In 1670 Robert Tucke of Gorlston gave power of attorney to his son William to transact business for him in Hampton. [7] It is said that this son William settled in Essex County, Massachusetts. [7]

ii. John Tucke was baptized on 2 December 1621 at St. Stephen. He was buried on 4 October 1624 at St. Stephen. [10]

ii. Elizabeth Tucke was baptized in 1628/9 at St. Botolph without Aldgate, London. [1] She married John Sherburne of Portsmouth. [7]

iii. Mary Tucke died on 30 December 1668. She married Lieutenant John Sanborn.

iv. Edward Tucke died on 6 April 1652 in Hampton. [11] He married Mary, the daugher of Thomas Philbrick, Sr. about 1648. [12] Mary married second the widower James Wall of Hampton. [12] He died on 3 October 1659. [12]
